Colors of Dreams

Mud Moments-blog 2011 and beyond >>

Spring is getting it's color on here in Portland!   The winter has reminded that we live in a rainforest.  It's been a wet one!  I was recently at the Better Living Show with Ron of Eagle Creek Natural Building and we were seeing the faces of folks looking for the newest ways to create the home and garden they dream of.  The spring starts to bring out the ideas that have been in the winter cave.  The promise of the sun's heat and our building season starts to fill up.
This winter I have been busy working on Claylin.  I am humbled in this process.  The many details I find needing attending are often beyond what I dreamed of.  And it is in this work I find my commitment.  There is a blessing in these hidden details, for if it was clear to me the amount of work involved I may have been more cautious.  I headed full force into the dream of offering Claylin to the world and with that I am facing myself and my fears.
It is now Spring and I am heading out on a networking tour for Claylin.  I will head south with stops in Ashland, Redding, Chico, Grass Valley.  A time in Oakland and a trip to Hawaii will revive and heat up the bones and family and friends will warm the heart.  North from Oakland I will stop in Sonoma County, Ukiah, Eureka and Eugene before getting back to Portland.  Follow this exciting tour on Claylin's Facebook Page! (there is a fun video on there right now, thanks Aprovecho)
And May brings time for the Village Building Convergence!  This 11th year will continue to bring the language of permaculture, natural building and placemaking into the lives of Portlanders and visitors alike.  I am honored to join Jeremy Rosenbloom as he heads a project this year.  Come find us and we will play in the mud!
June 4th and 5th I will be at the Mother Earth News Fair.  This is the Mother Earth News we are familiar with, and this is their second year offering a Fair!  They have three scheduled this year, one in Puyallup, WA, San Rafael, CA and Seven Springs, PA.  We may also be at the San Rafael in September.  In Puyallup we will be at booth #425.  I will also be presenting a slide show titled "Earth Building Today" that will also have a short how to trowel an earthen floor demo.  Come on out!
Summer will be right around the corner!  We of From These Hands will be pouring floors and building fireplaces.  Claylin will be getting into stores and working on a How-To video.  I will be teaching a 5 day earthen floor training September 12th-16th at Aprovecho.  This week is apart of the Sustainable Shelter Series, check it out!
I invite you to a fireside chat at the cob rumford fireplace.  Three dates have been added to our Show and Tells, all three at the fireplace so I get to show it to everyone.  And if you have been wanting to play in the mud with us, we have a volunteer opportunity coming up, July 19th and 20th.  This will be pouring a base Claylin floor in the Kings Valley, you will be feed and it will be a fun camp out!

Hope to see you out and hear how your dreams are blooming!

Many blessings
